A Certificate of Authenticity (COA) provides a guarantee of genuineness. As an avid collector of artwork you must buy only artwork that is backed by a COA. A COA is a virtual wealth of information and educates buyers about the artwork. Such information is of interest to fine art collectors and helps art historians maintain a precise timeline of the artist's work. A legitimate COA must contain the artist's name, specific details about the original artwork such as its completion date, the medium used, the artwork's exact title and dimensions, any additional artist's comments, and full current contact information of the artist. It is imperative that a COA for artwork originates from and is signed by either the artist, the publisher of the art, a confirmed dealer or agent of the artist, or an acknowledged expert on the artist to ensure that the artwork is not counterfeit as to compromise its investment value. All limited edition prints sold by Eric White Fine Art Studio include a COA individually signed by the artist and include a hand-pressed, embossed gold seal bearing the artist’s insignia.
Anytime one of Eric White's prints is sold or passed on to another individual (e.g., an inheritance) a transfer of your COA should be documented through Eric White Fine Art Studio. This is done to maintain the historicity of the artwork thereby maintaining its value and integrity of ownership. A nominal fee is incurred to transfer the COA with the information being included in the artist's archives, thereby also increasing the print's investment and value.
